Bank Sohar Honours Staff for 10-Year Long Tenure

As part of the endeavours outlining its strong employee-focused approach, Bank Sohar conferred high commendation on members of staff who have completed ten years of employment. Employees were honoured and presented with certificates and tokens of appreciation during a ceremony held at the bank’s Head Office in CBD, recently. The event sought to highlight the achievements, hard work, dedication and loyalty of these members of the Bank Sohar family, and to reward them for their contribution to the tremendous success of the organisation.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Sasi Kumar, Acting CEO of Bank Sohar, said: “I would like to congratulate all those who have been with us for the last ten years, essentially when we first commenced operations in 2007. This is a momentous occasion because it coincides with the bank’s milestone tenth anniversary and our historic accomplishments over the last decade were possible because of our highly qualified and motivated team members. They have served with dedication, commitment and loyalty, assisting us in our mission to bring excellence to the industry. Their decade long tenure at Bank Sohar reflects our success in becoming the employer of choice for those aspiring towards a prosperous career in the financial sector. It also signifies the bank’s investment in its human capital by creating a motivating and highly rewarding work environment of opportunities for career growth.”

The event was attended by the bank’s staff from various branches and units across the Sultanate. Commencing the event, a brief was given on the bank’s work culture and strategies that aim to accelerate staff growth and career development. The Acting CEO was then called on stage to present the certificates to honour members of staff who have completed 10 years of employment, followed by a group photograph.

Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki, GM – HR and Corporate Support at Bank Sohar, also added, “On behalf of the management of Bank Sohar, I congratulate and thank all the staff members for their long standing with the Bank and their loyalty. Bank Sohar attracts the best human resources in the market due to sound HR policies that provide opportunities for growth and a stimulating work environment. We have led various initiatives directed towards enhancing the skillset and expertise of Omanis in the sector. These strategies are underpinned by the overall objective to equip the Sultanate’s banking industry with the most efficient expertise and talent.”

From the time of its inception, Bank Sohar has been progressively engaged in career development and education initiatives through implementing comprehensive training programmes on an on-going basis. Last year alone, the bank conducted over 150 training programmes providing almost 1,300 open spots for employees to attend. In addition, the bank sponsored young Omanis for further education in banking studies at the Collage of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS), as well as members of staff who were sent overseas for training to specifically meet their job requirements. Bank Sohar continues to be committed to Omanisation and has introduced various specialised programmes to train talented Omanis for higher positions with the organisation. Thanks to these efforts, the Bank has achieved over 90 per cent Omanisation.
