Bank Sohar Supports Environment Society of Oman Initiative
As part of its constant endeavour to support initiatives that increase awareness on the environment, Bank Sohar once again contributed valuable support to Environment Society of Oman (ESO) having recently sponsored a Movie Night that showcased a documentary film to raise awareness on the importance of protecting marine life in Oman and the world over.
Commenting on the Bank’s support, Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki, GM of Human Resources and Corporate Support at Bank Sohar said, “Being a socially responsible Bank, we are determined to play our role in preserving the environment and are proud to be associated once again with ESO by supporting their fundamental objective of this documentary to raise awareness on important matters of the environment. BankSohar offers full support to initiatives that encourage more responsible and eco-friendly practices as it forms part of our core CSR philosophy through which we aim to make a difference in our society.”
Screened at The American International School Muscat (TAISM), the event showcased two documentary films that focused on whales, were the first film ‘Sonic Sea’ featured the critically-acclaimed Sonic Sea on humpback whales in the Arabian Sea. The second film focused on whales around the world and efforts to save the species from extinction. Latter a film discussion on the cetacean species inhabiting waters close to Oman’s coast and ways to increase habitat conservation as well as preserve the Sultanate’s natural beauty .The event was attended by Bank Sohar staff along with members of the Environmental Society of Oman.

At Bank Sohar we have always supported ESO vision as we strongly believe in their effective campaigns and initiatives to raise awareness on environmental issues and in promoting the conservation of the environment,” added Ms. Munira Macki.
The Environment Society of Oman (ESO) is the only non-government organisation in Oman that focuses on conserving the environment. Since 2004 successful programmes have been funded by donations and sponsorship in order to support the implementation of projects that have impacted both the environment and local communities.
